  • Compact Disc (CD) + Digital Album

A second edition of our DigiPack CD version of this album. The album artwork has been tweaked yet again (sorry, I can't help it) and the CD features our own We Don't Need No Stinking Badges branding.

Content-wise it's the same as the previous DigiPack CD edition, and features the same two bonus tracks. "An Uninvited Visitor" is a short piece using eyewitness dialogue which we simply weren't able to shoehorn into the vinyl LP edition of the album because of time constraints.

"'Oumuamua" isn't part of the Welsh Triangle UFO story. Rather it is about the eponymous 'Oumuamua (formally designated 1I/2017 U1), the first known interstellar object detected passing through our Solar System. So it is spacey, more astronomical rather than UFO-related although some have speculated that it was an alien craft. Anyway, this track was recorded early on during the sessions for "The Internal Inferno Of The Nocturnal Mock Turtle" album and is noteworthy for being the only Spurious Transients track to date upon which Gavin Lloyd Wilson does the vocals. It is also relevant to "Something Strange Came Out Of The Skies" because the intro was sneakily re-purposed for the track "Mab Y Darogan".

  • LP Record on Sky Blue coloured vinyl with UFO-zine
    Record/Vinyl + Digital Album

Sky Blue coloured vinyl LP record housed in a full colour sleeve with copious sleeve notes. Our previous sold out limited quantity of this LP with art-print and UFO-zine was so popular that we decided to have the UFO-zine re-printed in a second edition of 50 copies. Comments were that the UFO-zine perfectly complements the album; it's not quite multi-media but it's a step in that direction!

Includes unlimited streaming of Something Strange Came Out Of The Skies via the free Bandcamp app, plus high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more.

  • LP record on Sky Blue Vinyl + limited edition art print + UFO zine - 50 copies only
    Record/Vinyl + Digital Album

The whole album presented on a 12" LP record pressed on Sky Blue coloured vinyl and housed in a full colour sleeve with copious sleeve notes. These first 50 copies come with a 12" square art print on 300 gsm white matte board featuring an alternative unused front cover design PLUS a professionally printed 12-page A4 "UFO zine" with pictures, lyrics, articles and other information.

Includes unlimited streaming of Something Strange Came Out Of The Skies via the free Bandcamp app, plus high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more.

  • Very limited "promotional" CD
Compact Disc (CD) + Digital Album

Although we didn't intend releasing this album on CD, a very small number of CDs have been professionally duplicated, originally for promotional purposes. We're going to make a handful of these available to purchase. The CD features a high gloss thermal print on the label side and is housed in a full colour printed cardboard wallet.

Includes unlimited streaming of Something Strange Came Out Of The Skies via the free Bandcamp app, plus high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more.

  • Test Pressing, Heavyweight Black Vinyl + TWO exclusive art prints
    Record/Vinyl + Digital Album

FIVE heavyweight black vinyl copies ONLY.

I have decided to make the test pressings of this album available as I know that some of you out there like to collect these. Alternatively it's a chance to get a black vinyl copy for those not keen on coloured vinyl.

I hope this isn't perceived as a cynical cash-in to try to get more money from those of you who might have already bought the album. Any extra funds I make on this project - if indeed I am able to break even on my investment - I intend to plough back into future physical releases from Spurious Transients.

Unlike the production run of the LP, these TP copies have been pressed on heavyweight black vinyl and have plain white labels. Because they come in standard white card sleeves and don't have the proper artwork, I've decided to make this edition more attractive and more exclusive by pairing it together with not one but TWO high quality 12" art prints on recycled 300gsm white board. These are not the same prints as bundled with the earlier now sold out limited edition of the LP; these two prints are exclusive to these five LPs.

Includes unlimited streaming of Something Strange Came Out Of The Skies via the free Bandcamp app, plus high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more.

  • CD in DigiPack with revised artwork and bonus tracks
Compact Disc (CD) + Digital Album

OK, such was the demand for the few leftover "promotional" CDs for this album, that we have had a new batch of CDs made up, this time in DigiPack packaging so you actually have a proper tray for the CD to sit in, and a spine with the band name and album title on it which makes the CD easier to locate on your shelves.

The CD also features a couple of bonus tracks.

NEWSREADER: Now, what do you make of this next story? An investigation has begun into a claim that something strange came out of the skies and landed in the Welsh village of Broadhaven near Haverfordwest. Whatever it was, was spotted three times by children from the local school, and now their reports are being investigated by the British Unidentified Flying Object Research Association. Now the children say the object had a large dome, it was cigar-shaped and was silver in colour. Well to find out more, I've just been on the phone to their headmaster, Mr Llewellyn: HEADMASTER: I know that 16 children saw it. NEWSREADER: And did they all see the same thing, do you think? HEADMASTER: There's a [...] similarity between all their descriptions. I got them to draw and write what they saw. NEWSREADER: And do you believe it? HEADMASTER: I believe that they saw something which is not common in the environment in which they saw it but whether they interpreted it correctly I wouldn't know. NEWSREADER: Quite a mystery. Well, from a Welsh school to a school of whales; they've run ashore in Florida, America and are now stranded on the beach there...

With memory clear, 77 the year When the UFOs came to my fields My herd wouldn’t stay, they stampeded away Down 15% my milk yield As winter came on and the grass was all gone I wintered my herd in the shed And what happened next left me stunned and perplexed And totally messed with my head It was 12 when they ended the herd I attended And went in for a last cup of tea As the kettle did sing, my phone it did ring Seemed my neighbour was angry with me My cows, so he said, had got out of their shed And crop fields were trampling upon They’d been eating away, half an hour he did say And he wanted them now to be gone I thought it a yarn but I ran to the barn And the gate was still closed as before But what I looked upon, every single cow gone Shocked me to my very core Not a moo, not a hoof-step, no muck on the road The gates all fast shut on the way Not a sound had been heard as my entire herd Teleported a mile away Each cow gone from home, but how did they roam A whole mile, every cow, every calf This journey to make, an hour it should take Completed in minus a half So this is the mystery in my herd’s strange history The cows teleporting away No word of a lie, til the moment I die I’ll never forget that day

(He stood) seven feet tall in his astro-boots Breathing apparatus and a glowing silver suit A black visor in the helmet hid his face I knew he wasn't a member of the human race He's creeping up behind you He’s giving folk a fright He's lurking in the shadows In the darkness of night He's creeping up behind you He’s giving folk a fright He’ll freak you out By broad day-light Don't tell me, I know it sounds far-fetched He’s hanging in the sky, arms and legs outstretched He walks through fences and levitates at will He watches TV from my front window sill Up on Stack Rocks deep in alien affairs Ascending and descending on invisible stairs Without his helmet he looks quite odd Eyes of a fish, unblinking like a cod

“I was walking home towards Solva after having spent the evening with my girlfriend and the time was around 9pm. There was some scattered cloud about but some stars were visible. I’d reached Hendre Bridge and looking up I noticed a pear-shaped object in the sky. It was glowing and had an orange ring around it. I stopped by a mate's to tell them about what I'd seen, but they thought I was messing about and sent me on my way. “Another half mile further on and about half an hour later, I was continuing my journey home when I felt that something didn’t seem right. Stopping at a gate, I realised I could no longer see the airfield lights from RAF Brawdy. As I looked across the field I saw that what had been blocking out the lights was a large black shape on the ground. It was pretty big, it took up a good bit of the field. Maybe about 20 feet high by 30 to 40 feet across. I could just see the top of it against the horizon like a dome, and it had a faint light on the outside of it. “As I stood there watching, I decided to light a cigarette. At that moment I heard a noise from my extreme right that sort of sounded like someone walking on leaves, and turning about I saw a figure, a tall man, had come up beside me. And… I just felt afraid. “I noticed it had very high cheekbones, and it had a suit on that looked transparent but wasn’t. I can’t explain that. There was a thing in its mouth. It was like the breathing apparatus that divers have. I didn’t notice any hair so it may have had a helmet on. And there were large eyes. I think I would describe them as a fish’s eyes. “I'm afraid my reaction was to take a swing at it and then leg it.”

AN AUDIO DOCUMENTARY+SOUNDTRACK CONCEPT ALBUM

UFOs: The Welsh Triangle Of 1977

In 1977, the south west of Wales in the United Kingdom became a major hotspot for reported UFO activity and curious encounters with unusual beings. As well as sightings of bizarre objects and sinister silver-suited giants, inexplicable happenings included incidents involving a herd of teleporting and time-travelling cows. Using actual reported eyewitness accounts, we tell the story of some of the extraordinary events that happened during what has become known as "The Welsh Triangle".

The story is told through a sequence of songs and musical pieces with spoken word content, taking in a variety of musical styles including psychedelia, dub, hip hop and ambient electronics.

Based on actual reported events

REVIEWS

"Through music and spoken word, 'Something Strange Came Out Of The Skies' tells the peculiar story of The Welsh Triangle, a small area of Pembrokeshire where the locals reported scores of UFO sightings in 1977. The tracks are a mixture of dubby, ambient and psychedelic electronica, with some fine sitar and tabla work on the lengthy title cut, and the eye-witness accounts are enthralling. One for fans of The Orb and Fortean Times alike, particularly 'Bovine Bilocation', which is about a herd of teleporting cows. Straight up. Literally, apparently."
-- Push, Electronic Sound, Issue 73

"...an album about the 1977 'Dyfed Triangle' spate of Welsh UFO sightings [...] Something Strange Came Out Of The Skies is the brainchild of musician and writer Gavin Lloyd Wilson, whose sister Belinda had her own 1977 UFO encounter in the same vicinity. And it's a very different album: a collection of dramatic spoken word pieces accompanied by delicious drones and even the odd sitar. [A] fascinating document of the phenomenon..."
-- Bob Fischer, "The Haunted Generation", Fortean Times, FT404

Intriguing, too, for those of a more Fortean frame of mind is the Spurious Transients' Something Strange Came Out Of The Skies (spurioustransients.bandcamp.com) a sky-blue vinyl album-length musical documentary of a string of UFO sightings in Wales during the 1960s. Merging musical soundscapes with spoken word, including a number of eyewitness accounts, the album is as unsettling as you'd hope it would be, a melange of psych, dub, ambience and even hip hop that perfectly frames some genuinely bizarre stories. Which was surely not as easy as it sounds ... what accompaniment would you use, for example, for an account of a herd of teleporting cows? The Transients take a somewhat trip-hoppy approach and it works exquisitely. But now try and guess what they do with the "Freak Weather Woodpecker"!
-- Dave Thompson, Goldmine magazine

"The final product is very satisfying to the ears and I really enjoyed every single second of this Extra-Terrestrial thrilling Audio Documentary! And do not forget… We’re not alone… "
-- TimeLord Michalis, Time Machine Productions

"If you are interested in extra-terrestrials and psychedelic, electronic music then this is exactly your cup of alien tea!"
-- DJ Astro, Astral Zone Psychedelic Music Blog

"It all makes for one of the most unique listening experiences I've had in a while. It's a remarkably varied, highly ambitious and consistently fascinating project; a strange trip worth embarking on."
-- Josef Walters, Welsh Connections

"...there is definitely something in the water in Wales. I enjoyed this album immensely, pure escapism that is very much needed, and the children who attended Broad Haven school in that summer of 1977 still very much hope that the truth will eventually be revealed."
-- Andrew Young, Terrascope
